Awesome StoriesAwesome Stories is a fantastic website for middle school students, families, and communities. This database of informational literature includes links to current event pieces, historical pieces, biographies, and so much more. The links are organized by subject to make searching for the perfect piece easier and more efficient. This website is an excellent resource for homework and fun.

International Reading AssociationThis link connects to the web site for the International Reading Association (IRA). The IRA web site provides professionals, parents, and students with up to date research and information for the content areas of reading and language arts. The web site also includes a parents link, which contains reading lists and grade specific afterschool literacy activities that can be valuable resources for parents and students. The IRA website is a great source of literacy information and activities.

NewsLits"NewLits.org is a wiki space created to collaboratively develop a rich range of specialist resources for middle school language arts/literacy educators (typically Grades 5 to 8). These resources focus variously and broadly on new literacies and digital technologies." This wiki space can be useful in providing parents, students, and community members with a variety of ways that technology can be used in developing literacy.
